I can't believe you chose Story Hill over Fat Valdy's...

They did a rebranding some time ago. They have several locations (Fiesta Garibaldi) and many excellent seafood dishes. If you're in town for a Brewers game, this place, BKC or Kegel's Inn would be where I'd suggest.

I better start on the itinerary. Someone has threatened to wear his chassless aps if I don't get started.

Here's the first cut.

9:30 Valentine's Coffee for the traditional Cortado Ceremony
10:00 McBob's for corned beef, Bloody Mary's & PBR
11:30 Ray's Liquor to pick up my online orders. I appreciate any help loading it all.
12:00 Hit this cluster of restaurants - Cranky Al's, BelAir Cantina, Red Dot, Rocket Baby, etc. Dining ala trunk possibility.
1:00 Possibly see a movie at the Rosebud Cinema Drafthouse (real buttered popcorn!)
3:30 North Avenue Grille
5:00 Barhopping

There are a few more possibilities that Pie Diva and I want to check out.

UPDATE:

There may be a slight detour as ChiBears15 duplicates the Man v. Food Milwaukee Challenge. Sobelman's Chicken Fried Bloody Beast; followed by Mader's giant pretzel, large boot of beer, & pork shank; finishing with The Commish at Jake's. Obviously, Danny is man enough to complete this challenge.

Do you really want me in your car after eating all that?

His camera always works. He just wants to complete his roll of film before he rewinds it.

Pie Diva and I scouted a portion of North Avenue today and we are even more excited about this event.

We started at Ono Kine Grindz, where we shared a Kahlua Pork Bento Box.

This was Bobbi's favorite food of the day.

Our next stop was supposed to be Red Dot, but we saw a taco special at Bel Air Cantina that caused us to stop.

Braised brisket, caramelized onions, citrus slaw and chipotle ancho mayo. Kind of small, but the profits are going to hurricane relief. Good stuff.

That's Tater Tot Poutine from Red Dot. A regular size portion for just $6. That was my favorite thing all day.

More to come...

Does Red Dot makes its tater tots from scratch?

FYI, if somehow the Brewers wind up hosting Game 1 of the NLCS on Oct. 14 I might be at the ballpark and if it's a day game I'll be skipping North Ave.

After Red Dot we wandered further East on North to Indulgence Chocolatiers.

We bought a small box of truffles and a bowl of Purple Door ice cream.

That's Lemon Cardamon with Pistachios on top.

Our final stop was Walter's on North, where we tried a bar burger based on some online reviews.

We didn't think the burger was anything special, so Walter's won't be on the crawl.

One other place we visited was Camp Bar which only offers pizza from Cranky Al's as food. We were greeted by a man who seemed to be in charge, likely the manager or an owner. He gave us a tour and offered a generous alternative to Dining ala Trunk - - - A Deercamp Chowdown.

He said we are welcome to buy food elsewhere and bring it to Camp Bar to eat (with the understanding that we will purchase our (adult) beverages from Camp Bar). This is one of the many rooms in Camp Bar that we could possibly commandeer.

Of course they do. We even witnessed them harvesting the potatoes from their garden out in back.

BUMP!

While walking between restaurants on North we spotted an Italian place that we had never noticed before. Il Moto Trattoria e Enoteca looks really first rate. Il Moto will be added to the Freeze-Out upon confirmed attendance by joerogo.

Pie Diva has identified a couple potential additional stops for the Freeze-Out. While perusing Carol Deptolla's Top 30 (plus 20 more) list of Milwaukee area restaurants, Bobbi spotted two on North Avenue.
  • Mekong Cafe is between McBob's and our main stop for the day and may make a nice snack before we begin the serious eating. You can guess the cuisine.
  • Irie Zulu offers African and Jamaican food, and is located next to the North Avenue Grill. They are open only for dinner and likely won't fit in the crawl while we are still able to eat.
There are also 2 or 3 Chinese restaurants along the walking stretch of the tour that we may want to try. Bobbi and I are working on a dining strategy that we will present for discussion.

Elaine,

That is a good strategy, we've got a lot of food planned for the day.

This is a very youth oriented area we are focusing on so your kids and their friends will enjoy it.

North Avenue Grill is the big afternoon event.

I'm on an 8 am, noon, and 5 pm schedule. I'm holding off on breakfast to join you guys at McBobs.
I'd actually prefer the NAG but that time just won't work for me.

Mike,

We are purposefully avoiding the rush at NAG. Should have better luck getting in late afternoon.

You guys do what you need to do and we'll make it work for us.  If my schedule allows it, we might grab a hotel room the night before to facilitate an earlier start.  If that doesn't work out, I can think of worse ways to start my day than McBob's.

I'm a possibility for whatever you have early in the morning, but I have to be in Oak Creek by 11:45 am for a musical event. We may be able to rejoin the group later on for dinner, but it all depends on the concert. I'll keep an ear to the ground for info on my schedule, and I'll keep an eye on this thread for the latest updates on the itinerary. That should be an interesting pose!
