Would like suggestions for Chapel Hill, NC

Our family will be in Chapel Hill, NC.  this weekend.  We are going to watch my granddaughter's Navy lacrosse team play in the final 8.  I would love suggestions for lunch and dinner near the university.  All I have been able to find are chains.

Chapel Hill doesn't seem to have many Roadfoody places. You'll have better luck in Durham and Raleigh.

Allen & Sons Barbecue is in CH. One of the best pits in NC.

Dames Chicken & Waffles in nearby Durham is tremendous. I suggest a reservation.

My lawyer suggests Top of the Hill in CH, but I have never been.

Best of luck to the Middies.

Start your day at Sunrise Biscuits.

We've had varying results at the Weathervane. One of our best NC meals the first time. The second was not as good.

City Kitchen in CH is supposed to be very good, too.

Will Ms Stick be getting in the goal?

Navy has great goalies.   She is only a plebe so I doubt that she will even get 5 minutes of play.  It does not matter.  She is part of the team and very excited, as we are.

A Southern Season isn't necessarily Roadfood, but it's a great place to buy NC products and just take a walk-around. I spent a few hours in there and had lunch.

Route 11 - The restaurant at Southern Season is The Weathervane.

I agree, Southern Season is worth a visit.

Is Mama Dip's still worthwhile?  I've had some excellent meals and some not so good meals there over the years.

I ate there once a few years back and didn't think it was great.

Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen in Chapel Hill.  The fried chicken biscuit is the best I've had.  They have limited hours ... I think until 2:00 or 2:30.  You can either use the drive-through or you can walk into the side door.  It is small inside and there are no tables.  It is take-out only, and they allow a maximum of 3 customers inside because of the limited size.  I recommend walking in just to see them make what I consider the best biscuits anywhere.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  We picked up lunch at Sunrise Biscuit Co.  Everyone loved it.  We canceled our dinner reservation at Top of the Hill.  There was a huge tailgate after the game, complete with adult beverages, so there was no way any of us wanted dinner.

So now, with Navy's big upset of NC, we are headed to Foxboro for the "Final Four" next weekend!  We will be making a stop at Sea Swirl on the way home for clams and lobster rolls..........can't wait.

    Congratulations to Navy Women's Lacrosse.

FYI: I believe Sea Swirl just has those lobster salad rolls, not real ones -- hot with butter.
