out at restaurants, i like to get mashed potatoes or a baked potato w/ sour cream and butter, au Gratins if i'm at Ruth'sChris, and a salad w/ double blue cheese dressing. i swear with all the salad and bread i'm full before my meal comes and i almost always take most of my steak home w/ me.
at home, i love green beans, lightly steamed till they're just bright green, w/ hollandaise.
green beans and hollandaise are my favorite snack food, too.
my recipe is easy: melt 1 stick of butter, put 3 egg yolks into a double boiler (i use two all-clad pots of the same size and just balance one on top). whisk yolks, add several tbsp. of the butter at a time, whisk, whisk and whisk some more, add more butter, repeat, etc., add white pepper and half a lemon's juice.
