RE: 4th of July desserts
On Long Island, I always bring to a 4th party these things. I find people often forget to bring some nice cold fruit and chocolate:
Ice cold seedless watermelon,
Ice cold sweet WHITE peaches (I have to look high and low),
Hershey's Deep Dish Brownies:
1 1/2 sticks butter or margarine melted
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup Hershey's Cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Oven 350. Grease 8 inch square pan.
Combine butter, sugar, vanilla in bowl. Add eggs, beat well. Combine four, cocoa, baking powder, salt, add to egg mixture beat till well blended. Spread batter onto pan.
Bake 40/45 minutes till brownies pull away from pan. Cool completely in pan on rack, cut into bars, makes 16 brownies.
OPTIONS: You can stir in 1 cup peanut butter chips or any other Hershey style of chip into batter before spreading into pan. You could probably stir in some nuts too, I don't like nuts in brownies and so many have allergies, I skip the nuts.
