Re:Reccomendations for expresso coffee brands, Cuban style
My favorite is still Cafe' Naviera from Tampa, even upon retrying Cafe' Carocolillo recently. Granted, I've never sampled Souto, Oquendo, nor Estrella, and would love to. Maybe it's that tad of chicory in Naviera that attracts me.
Someday when I have money I'll order a sack of Naviera's Hotel & Cafeteria Blend, which comes only in restaurant-sized packages. It's absolutely got to be good.
Among non-espresso coffees, I like Community from Baton Rouge, Mello-Joy from Lafayette, Louisiana, Cafe' Du Monde from New Orleans, and Seaport Dark Roast from Beaumont, Texas... the latter has a pronounced oily taste, similar to my first impression of Point Special Beer. The Fertitta family has been running that roaster since something like 1907.
