long similar lines, while in Clarksdale, Mississippi, heading for Abe's Barbecue at The Crossroads, we stopped at a gas station to ask for directions and encountered a colorful sign advertising "Pickoola". The sunglasses wearing, big, bright pinkish/reddish, semi-anthropomorphic pickle that dominated the sign promised the buyer a dill pickle "marinated with non-carbonated soft drink mix" for fifty cents apiece.
It sounded ghastly, but being the adventurous Roadfooder I am, and since it was only going to cost me a half a buck, I decided I had to find out what a Pickoola tasted like. Upon requesting a Pickoola from the service station's proprietor, I found out they stopped carrying the product months earlier and never bothered to remove the sign.
So now I live in ignorance, never having had a chomp of a Pickoola. Maybe that is the true meaning of the phrase, "Ignorance Is Bliss".
If I ever figger out how to post a photo here, I'll show you a picture of the sign.
