Just wanted to let all of you BBQ fans know that we just returned from a trip to Rolla, Mo. Johnny's Smokestack is now Johnny's Pit BBQ now and it is back in business under the original owners!!! The food is FABULOUS!!! We drove from Lima Ohio to check it out and we were not disappointed. Talked to the owners and they were not aware that they were presumed dead (figuratively speaking). I called them before we left to make sure they were still in business....and they answered the phone with hours of operation and all the good details, soooo, anyone travelling south on I-44 out of St. Louis, be sure to stop at Johnnys and get your grub on!!!

Glad to read a good report about Johnnies. We have family in Rolla and used Johnnies as a night-out dinner spot on our annual visits. The last two times (2005 and 2006) the food was a bit disappointing. Portions were much smaller and some of the meat was in just out of a cooler, not room temp or warmer. We will be headed over that way this Fall and will do an update on your report.

Thank you for the great report on Johnny's! Just to let you know, it is "Johnny's Hickory Pit" now.

Last Friday night we again enjoyed a fine meal at Johnny's in Rolla Mo. Spoke with the owners (the original owners are back running it) and they are trying to repair the damage done by the part time owners from a couple of years back. The burnt ends and ribs were moist, meaty and well smoked. They added thin sliced beef to the buffet, which makes a fine sandwich. The big block of cheese is back as well. Anyone travelling south on I-44 from St. Louis, Mo, stop at Rolla and enjoy some BBQ!!!!
