I went to Cleveland a few weeks ago to catch a Cavs game and we wanted to have a nice breakfast before heading on our way back home so we asked our server from the previous nights dinner where to go and she said her favorite breakfast was at "Lucky's Cafe" in Tremont.
Upon arrival there was a huge poster in the window signed by Guy Fieri, who recently had been there to tape a show of "Diner, drive ins and Dives" This is a farm to table restaurant and the breakfast plates will run you at least $10.00 and your coffee at least $2.50 so it's not exactly inexpensive to dine here. With that being said though the food was excellent!
These gingerbread waffles with whipped cream, warm apples and homemade caramel sauce was out of this world. You really tasted the flavors of real grated spicy ginger
This dish is called the "Ship wreck" with toast, eggs, hash browns, bacon, veggies, cheddar and fresh fruit.
The cafe is very cozy, warm and charming. They have a small dessert case near the counter which is packed with cupcakes, scones, tortes and muffins, we took home 2 cupcakes and were impressed with the flavors. The cakes were moist and the buttercream not soo sugary you didn't want to eat them. You can tell this place really takes pride in what they do and I wish them all the best.
We arrived on a Saturday just before they opened, you can get there an hour early for drinks but the kitchen does not open till 9am. I'd have to say the earlier the better and now since they have had face time on the Food Channel....WOW!
