similar way of heating food that some of you really old-timers may remember:
When I was young (60 to 70 years ago) and my folks and I went on a day-long trip (many times to put flowers on ancestors' graves in area cemeteries), instead of stopping to eat lunch at a restaurant, we would pack a picnic lunch. Almost every time, we would take a can of some vegetable (usually pork and beans) and about an hour before we were going to eat, my father would place it on the car manifold. When we got to the spot we were going to eat, we would open the can and have hot pork and beans to eat with our lunch!
