Especially on Reelfoot Lake.
Michael: Reelfoot lake which was formed by a earth quake is probably the best crappie lake is the USA but our local lakes are OK. Before regulations, my dad has brought home better than 150 crappie which he spent hours cleaning and filleting and freezing in water. They were my favorite pan fish. Mom would fix them for breakfast with home fries and slaw. What a breakfast.
I went with him on many trips in the spring and we would enjoy sardines sans spirits. My dad would not drink. He was a life long deacon in the church although on occasion he would share a cocktail with me but only occasion. He always had sardines on his bass boat. he sure did enjoy fishing on the lake in front of our home.
He knew where to catch the crappie in the flats on the river. He took me there every spring. I even caught two as dad always made me have two lures out while we trolled.
Nothing like fried crappie. Great pan fish.
