Gulf Coast and Jackson Mississippi

We spent a wonderful week in Mississippi-ate at casinos for several meals.  Their breakfasts are hard to beat! 
We found a special little upstairs place called CUZ'S on Hwy. 603 at exit 13 off I-10 in Bay Saint Louis.   We had fried oysters with a wonderful side of slaw.  It was like eating with family - Cuz's wife had made beignets for all the men and red velvet cupcakes for the ladies.  The seafood is fresh and the beignets were just as good as any I've ever had in NOLA.  What a wonderful experience!!  We stopped by Fayards BP station on 1757 Popps Ferry Rd. in Biloxi.  This station has a meat department and grocery.  They also made fresh beignets to order and also made
po-boys sandwiches. 
We left the coast and went to Jackson, the state capital.   After reading and seeing The Help, we wanted to see the locations mentioned.  
The Fairview Inn and Sophia's Restaurant were all and more than we expected!!  The owner was such a warm person and the Inn was just beautiful.  We had fried oysters (served on the half-shell), a muffuletta and creme brulee-a delicious meal!!   Our next stop was Brett's Drugs-exactly like the scenes in the movie.
This was such a nice, "delicious" trip!!

Man, I love Mississippi!
Thanks for the nice report.  Nothing like fresh seafood!  When I was in Jackson last Summer, The Help had just come out and Roadfooder mbrookes and her husband Sam took me to Brett's Drugs so I could see it.  What a cool place.  We had already eaten, but next time in Jackson, they are going to take me back for a meal.

Thanks for your MS Trip Report.  I stayed at Fairview a few times.  And I have been to Brent's Drug Store also.  Walker's Drive In is a nice place a few blocks from Brent's.  The Fillin Station is another great place for oysters and good food in Biloxi.  Back Bay is nice too.  Come back again soon.
