I had Crab & Lobster Thermidor @ Tadich Grill...which was wonderful.
As far as the service...
The busboy was very professional & cordial & saved the day when it came to being a buffer for some of the bizarre service from the waiter. The waiter was very abrupt & surly. He slammed my drink down on the table so hard I think the ice cubes are still in the air. That was something to navigate for about 75% of the experience. At that point (after getting no reaction from either one of us...& realizing we were having a good time laughing about the steak fries) the tide turned & he decided to become my dearest best friend. He had me by the arm trying to get me to promise to come back again.
Out of the twelves or thirteen places visited in San Francisco last year...that was the only somewhat crazy experience. The other two upscale places (House of Prime Rib & Yank Sing) were both stellar in terms of food & service.
I didn't read about Tadich Grill on Yelp before visiting because I always read positive things here about the service.
There are countless reviews on Yelp that mirror the less than wonderful parts of that experience It's an expensive restaurant & it should be mentioned for anyone who is considering a visit. It's a good thing to be prepared just in case it gets a little bizarre.
