Fiddlehead Pizza, Bluffton, SC

Just off Hilton Head Island, SC in the historic small town of Bluffton, is located Fiddlehead Pizza.  Chef Darren and his wife recently opened Fiddlehead (like the fern) Pizza and have made our dream of a great pizza come true.  We are originally from Chicago and have been searching for the type of pizza we like, for years.  This is it!  The ingredients are fresh and local whenever possible.  The cheese is the stretchy kind (we Love) and the fennel sausage is tops. The spices are light and tasty.  Homemade soups with ingredients from the local farmer's market are a daily special.  Please check the menu on their website for specialty appetizers, soups, salads and sandwiches.  You will be surprised, as you can get the usual here or unique items with ingredients like quail eggs and local shrimp.  The venue is the old fashioned Mom and Pop pizza joint feeling with aromas of food filling the air. No chain food decor here.  They are located about 1 mile south of route 278 on Burnt Church Road at the corner of Bruin (same as May River Road).  They have pick up but no delivery.  Open Mon-Sat at 11:00am till ?  843-757-6466 They also have outdoor seating with music on the weekends.

Maybe Michael Stern is right.

The menus of South Carolina pizza parlors are looking pretty good these days.

At the very least a nice regional Calzone or Stromboli would not be out-of-order.

Never tried quail eggs as a pizza topping.

Would California Pizza Kitchen serve a California Quail pie, or perhaps a Gambels pie?
