I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Harryhausen at a promotional event for the first version of CLASH OF THE TITANS ( his final film ) back in '81 and, as a lifelong lover of monster movies, it was one of the biggest thrills of my life. RIP to one of the greatest artists in motion picture history.

He took the movie special effects from something that was laughable at to something that really could look possible an in the right context, horrify people. RIP, Mr. Harryhausen.

I am a huge fan of stop action -- I love Aardman/Nick Park/Wallace & Gromit.
I remember being mesmerized by "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad" at a Saturday matinee when I was a kid.
Harryhausen was a master.

"Without him there would be no '"Star Wars" was a recent quote from George Lucas.  Harryhausen was a genius, even Tim Burton has creditied him as an inspiration
