We tried the Supreme Meats pizza burger that is pictured above, as we had pretty good memories of them from our youth. Yuck. Either our tastes have changed( more than likely) or the burgers have changed.

And they so small! Almost slider sized.

never had pizza burgers when i went to school. The box of Supreme's Pizza -Burgers reminds me of Fancy Pants.
My mother would take  hamburger meat and make patties. Then she would put  mainly cheddar or american cheese in the middle. She would seal the edges good so that the cheese wouldn't cook out. After browning them on both sides, she's take them out of the pan. Then momma would drain off any grease and wipe the pan. Then she'd put the cheese stuffed patties back in the pan and pour Hunt's or Contadina tomato sauce on the top and let them simmer  for a bit in the sauce. She got the recipe from Hunt's. There is even an old ad for hunt's  tomato sauce on Pinterest that is called fancy pants.

Interesting. Did she add any spices to the tomato sauce?

The Hot Lunch Pizzaburgers at my high school were Sloppy Joe style meat with more of a pizza sauce flavor (Sloppy Rogo may best describe it). They slopped that on a bun and topped it with some fine government American cheese. They were quite a treat.

Harker's Meats used to distribute them in the Midwest. They were disgustingly delicious! Unfortunately, they were bought out 10 years ago. I have seen some patties advertised as Harker's pizza burgers at our local Hyvee. I have not tried them yet.
