Why can't they let the colonel rest in peace. They've let his recipe rest in peace for decades. This ad only shows the franchise has no taste, just like their chicken!!!!!!!!

I have *never* seen a KFC ad on TV in our local tv market.   Apparently they don't need to advertise here.
Délice gastronomique. <sigh
Just sayin.

Well, at least they found someone who would be about the same age as Colonel Sanders if he were still alive.

I like the chicken pot pies from KFC.  I don't like that they abbreviated their name.

I also can't stand Norm MacDonald so any other Colonel would be welcomed.

I'm thinking Keenan Thompson.  He can do anything!

If I ever get to England I'm going to find the legendary "Clapton is God" graffiti and overspray "Norm".  And the end result won't read "Clapton is Norm".

They are well aware that the commercials stink. The college kid bean counters just want to get the name KFC into peoples heads, no publicity is bad publicity. If they beat the name into you enough they believe you will mindlessly pull in and eat their gunk. YUM is the worlds worst food conglomerate in the world, they ONLY care about the bottom line and nothing else. That is why the food at their brands is so bad

What a popular thread! Lee, I'm not a big fan of YUM either, but I must own some in one of my mutual funds for my IRA, so I'm glad if they make money. If they made better food, I would go more often. There are so many great actors out there, so the (IMO, stupid) casting must have been done for a reason. If they could afford her, I'd like to see Mya Rudolph's take on the Colonel!

It would be interesting to see the public opinion of the "new Colonel Sanders" concept broken out by various demographics.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if disapproval was directly proportional to age, as Harland Sanders has been dead for over 35 years and younger people would be less likely to have had the exposure to him as a real person.

Like I said before, I don't think the younger people really care, I think the commercials are geared towards the 40-50 and older crowd who tend more to go to chain/fast food restaurants.

Well heck if we're going for weird, wacked out and eclectic let's have Christopher Walken.  Or how about Al Pacino doing a "Scent of a Woman" version of the Colonel.

I question your assumption on 40-50 years olds.
Percentage of calories from fast food among U.S. adults in the period 2007-2010, by age group and gender
Latest Statistics available 2007-2010
Ages  20-39 = 15.3%
Ages  40-59 = 10.5%
Ages 60 ^   =   6.0%

Your assumption of who the ads are geared to is not correct either:

Actually I'm totally right and you're completely wrong

Besides your data being incredibly outdated by 10 years, there's nothing in the data that specifically refers to KFC
I'm glad to hear that besides minorities, babies, children etc like fast food, but you erroneously, and incorrectly previously referred to millenials who actually abhor fast food and chains.
Besides I know most folks here like to post about "a whole lot of nothing" I prefer to post about Roadfood

I agree!  There is not very much posted here on real Roadfood.  I would post more but feel that most readers want to see pictures, which I do not do.

Greymo, please, post away!  While pictures are my preferred style when I post I do love to read a good narrative.  Mr. Chips never (or rarely) posted pictures in his write-ups but I always looked forward to them.  Hey, is Mr. Chips still active on Roadfood?

Any of the nuevo Colonels beats the heck out of the new hipster pitchman for Dos Equis. I won't lower the standard by calling him The Most Interesting Man, he just looks like a dick. I don't much care for the beer anyway, so I won't be consuming it in the future. The leftover Dos Equis in my fridge is up for grabs.

I rather like the rotating ensemble for the new Colonel. They're targeted at those of us who are bit older and remember folks like George Hamilton. I'm really looking forward to seeing who's next.
